Borno Govt Takes Delivery of 600,000 Doses of Cholera Vaccines

Borno State Government has received 669,569 doses of oral cholera vaccine procured by the Federal government to contain the spread of cholera in the state.

The vaccines were procured in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and global partners, including Gavi, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and others.

Doses of oral cholera vaccine delivered by UNICEF to Borno State Government

United Nations Children Education Fund UNICEF, Chief of Field Office, Dr. Gerida Birukila said handing over of the second consignment made it almost one million doses of vaccines delivered to the Borno State Government.

According to her, UNICEF is responsible for security and logistics, including the transportation of the vaccines from source to various locations across the country.

“Recently, we handed over 300,000 doses of the vaccines and we believe it has helped to reduce the spread of the disease” Birukila stated.

The UNICEF Chief explained that the vaccine is available for anyone over one year of age and is safe for use.

Director, Disease Control and Immunization, Borno State Primary Health Care Development Board, Hajiya Fati Ali, appreciated UNICEF and other partners for the support.

She urged the public to take advantage of the vaccines and protect themselves against the disease.
