The Zamfara State Government has issued a strong warning to villages harboring bandits, threatening to demolish any communities found aiding them.

Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni gave this warning during a visit to Tsafe Emirate to offer condolences following the killing of nine members of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG), also known as “Askarawa,” who were ambushed by bandits on the Tsafe-Funtua road.

While addressing the Emir of Tsafe, Mummuni singled out Maikwanugga village, accusing its residents of assisting the bandits by providing them with shelter and food.

He noted that the village, situated less than half a kilometer from the main road, allowed the bandits to stay the night before launching their deadly attack on the Askarawa, who had been stationed to protect travelers.

“The village is located less than half a kilometer from the road, yet they chose to assist bandits against our security forces, who are working to protect innocent civilians,” the deputy governor said.

Mummuni emphasized that the government will not tolerate any individuals or groups undermining its efforts, or those of the security forces, in combating the insecurity that has caused massive loss of life and destruction of property across the State.

As a show of support to the families of the slain guards, the state government also provided food and cash assistance.
