MacArthur Foundation Celebrates 30 Years Of Transformative Impact In Nigeria


ForThe Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has congratulated the MacArthur Foundation on its 30th anniversary of operations in Nigeria, praising its “unwavering commitment” to driving meaningful development across the country.

“The MacArthur Foundation’s 30-year journey in Nigeria is a testament to its dedication to fostering partnerships that drive transformative impact,” said the Director-General of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Engr. Dr. Abubakar Gambo Umar.

“Their work has been instrumental in shaping a brighter future for countless individuals and communities.”

Over the past three decades, the MacArthur Foundation has made significant contributions to various sectors in Nigeria, including population and reproductive health, leadership development, education, human rights, and justice.

“We are particularly proud of our collaboration with the MacArthur Foundation in transforming the Almajiri System of Education in Northern Nigeria,” Dr. Umar added.

“Together, we have empowered Almajiri youth with essential skills, enabling them to thrive and contribute positively to society.”

Dr. Kole Ahmed Shettima, Africa Director of the MacArthur Foundation, was also commended for his visionary leadership. “His commitment and passion for making a difference have left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s development landscape,” Dr. Umar noted.

As the MacArthur Foundation celebrates this milestone, Dr. Umar emphasized that its legacy extends beyond projects completed.

“The Foundation’s impact is measured in the lives transformed and the hope instilled in the hearts of many.”
