Tinubu Calls for Continued Africa-China Collaboration to Unlock Unprecedented Growth

President Bola Tinubu has urged for sustained collaboration between Africa and China, emphasizing that such cooperation has the potential to unlock unprecedented levels of growth and development for both regions.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation celebrating the longstanding partnership, Tinubu called for a bold, collective vision, highlighting that the future success of the alliance depends on continued joint efforts.

Reflecting on the progress made since the 1950s, President Tinubu noted the growth of Africa-China relations, particularly in trade, investment, and diplomacy. He praised China’s initial support for African independence movements, which evolved into a multifaceted partnership, now solidified through high-level engagements and strategic agreements.

He also celebrated the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as a key platform for strengthening economic ties, citing that trade between Africa and China has reached $280 billion. The President linked China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Africa’s infrastructure goals, underscoring the promise of future collaboration.

President Tinubu extended his appreciation to Chinese President Xi Jinping and the government of China for their steadfast commitment to the partnership, reiterating that peaceful dialogue and transparent business practices must remain central to future endeavours.

“Africa, our Motherland, needs this collaboration, and prosperity awaits future generations who will build on today’s vision,” he concluded.
