The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Kwara state command has seized 1,153 parcels of Cannabis Sativa and generated 13.3billion naira revenue between January and June this year.

According to him, the truck worth 21.5million naira will be forfeited to the federal government in accordance with section 250 of Customs service act 2023.

He said the smugglers have now started the skills of fabricating trucks with false body and bottom created mainly to conceal dangerous drugs with the intention to deceive operatives.

Ojeifo explained that during the period, a total of 110 kegs of petrol valued at 550 thousand naira were also seized.

He noted that despite the scarcity of petroleum products, some unpatriotic Nigerians still attempt to smuggle the product through the borders with a duty value of over 42 million naira.

He assured the determination of the service not to relent in it’s effort of reducing the activities of smugglers to the minimum.

On her part, the Kwara state Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), Fatima Abiola -Popoola said the inter agency relation among security personnel is yielding positive results.

She commended the efforts of the Nigeria Customs service for intercepting the drugs.

Abiola-Popoola said the agency would collaborate with other security agencies to ensure the run away suspects are arrested.
