Written by fadila yunusa

Plateau government has distributed one hundred motorcycles, raincoats and Rain boots to Security agencies in the state to tackle insecurity.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang made the distribution at the old Government house little rayfield in Jos.

Mutfwang said, the distribution is part of the state government’s efforts to enhance security and protect farmers on their farms in the state.

The governor expressed optimism that this year, farmers will go back to their farms which many of them have done so already despite the fact that activities of bandits have not seized but with these motorcycles they will be able to enter into every nook and crany of the state

He stated that the motorcycles were specifically meant for round-the-clock surveillance in the bush and will enable security forces to access areas where vehicles cannot reach.

He added also that this set of motor cycles is the first batch procured and is to be used for round the clock surveillance. This is particularly important to ensure that the security forces give cover to our farmers.

The governor noted that the state has made significant strides in identifying the hiding places and entry points of criminals in the state. He added that massive investments have been made in technology, which will be unveiled soon.

Alexander Barunde, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), appreciated the state government for the gesture and promised that farmers will be adequately protected in their farms.

The NSCDC chief added that the distribution of the motorcycles, raincoats and rain boots is a significant step towards addressing the security challenges in the State, saying,
the motorcycles will enable security agencies to respond quickly to distress calls and patrol areas that were previously inaccessible. The raincoats and rain boots will also ensure that security personnel are protected from the elements while on duty.
