Nigeria, Denmark Collaborate on Green Industrial Vision Initiatives

Special envoy on Climate Action, Ajuri Ngelale, has discussed Nigeria’s green industrial vision and critical climate action initiatives with Denmark’s Special Climate Envoy, Mr Tomas Anker Christensen.

 

The virtual meeting, held in Geneva, Switzerland, resulted in a series of agreed-upon steps that will help establish a real-time framework for monitoring climate action programs.

This framework will also prioritize the de-risking of capital formation in global climate finance discussions, as Nigeria advocates for value chain localization in the global south.

Ngelale emphasized that the meeting laid out President Bola Tinubu’s green industrial vision and highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to these initiatives. Additionally, he provided an update on Nigeria’s progress in decarbonizing its telecommunications infrastructure.

Green ICT Champion, Mr. Diseye Isoun, who attended the meeting, reported significant advances in emissions displacement within the sector. Ngelale noted that these efforts are expected to create job opportunities ishortly as the framework’s integrity and achievable benchmarks are ensured.
