The Kano State Police Command has addressed the recent false and mischievous news circulating on social media platforms concerning the photos of suspects and exhibits involved in the destruction and looting of public and private properties during the nationwide protest.

At a press conference held at Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, stated that the images showing suspects and exhibits are linked to the current incidents resulting from the ongoing August 2024 Nationwide Protest and have no relation with any incident in 2011.

The Command paraded the same suspects arrested and paraded on August 1, 2024, to clarify the issue.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, directed the Anti-Cyber Crime Unit to investigate and arrest the perpetrators of the fake news capable of instigating the public against the Police.

A total of 326 suspects were arrested with large quantities of exhibits, including two AK-47 rifles looted at Audu Bako Secretariat, High Court Complex.

The CP commended the Kano State Government for imposing a 24-hour curfew and called on parents and guardians to voluntarily return looted properties to the nearest Police Station.
