Nasarawa Police Detains 50 Protesters

Nasarawa State Police Command says it has detained fifty protesters for allegedly attacking police personnel and causing the breakdown of law and order in the State.

The State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, stated this to newsmen in Lafia, the State Capital.

DSP Ramhan Nansel said, twenty five persons were apprehended in Lafia, sixteen in Karu, six in Keffi, and three in Mararraba-Udege, Nasarawa Local Government Areas respectively.

According to him, the suspects were currently in Police Custody for further interrogation and investigation.

The Command’s Spokesperson explained that the violence exhibited by the protesters in some parts of the state earlier on Thursday had been brought under control by security agencies.

He gave assurances that the Police and other security agencies would continue to be professional in handling the protest.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, warned the troublemakers bent on causing mayhem under any guise to desist or face the full wrath of the law, citing that violent protest was unlawful and would not be tolerated.

The spokesperson, therefore, called on members of the public to go about their lawful activities without fear of intimidation.
