Nigeria’s Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, Ajuri Ingelale, presented President Bola Tinubu’s green industrial vision at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Geneva.

The presentation highlighted the country’s commitment to climate action and sustainable development, showcasing ongoing initiatives within Nigeria’s climate action sector.

Ingelale engaged in extensive discussions with the leadership of three technical teams working within the WEF’s Center of Nature & Climate and the Center for Energy and Materials.

These discussions aimed to explore new opportunities for enhanced collaboration.

The meetings emphasized the importance of collective efforts in addressing global environmental challenges.

In addition to these discussions, Ingelale was briefed by the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP) on the progress of Nigeria’s partnership with the Forum.

The GPAP leadership highlighted that Nigeria has assumed the leading position in Africa in responding to the plastic waste crisis, based on various assessment criteria.

In response, Ingelale assured the Forum of Nigeria’s continued commitment to improving plastic waste management.

He emphasized the country’s plans to incentivize industries to adopt better practices and invest in advanced recycling.

The envoy outlined the vision for a dedicated waste-to-energy district in Evergreen City, where wealth would be generated from a circular economic ecosystem driven by plastic waste pollution.

Ingelale expressed optimism about the growing collaboration between Nigeria and the international community on critical climate action issues.

He underscored the potential for green economic opportunities arising from these efforts, emphasizing the importance of working together.
