President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero has demanded the reversal of electricity hike by DISCOs with immediate effect.
In a statement, Comrade Ajaero says the hike in tariff by DISCOs from N206.80 to N209.5 with effect from July 1 for the so-called band ‘A’ customers will certainly put more companies out of business as well as create unemployment.
He described another hike in electricity tariff instead of a reversal as insensitivity and burden on Nigerians.
According to him, the excuses given by DISCOs for the hike such as exchange rate, interest rate and cost of gas as justification for this increase is unjustifiable.
NLC President says the tariff increment will affect jobs and economic growth.
Organized Labour had embarked on nationwide protest in May demanded immediate reversal of hike in Electricity tariff from N225kwh to N65kwh.
