39th Unilorin Convocation 256 Bags First Class

At least 19 graduating students of the University of Ilorin have bagged Distinction in the 2022/2023 academic session.

Speaking with journalists to commenced 39th Convocation Ceremonies of the institution in Ilorin , the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), said a total of 12,042 students are to be awarded various degrees and Diplomas in the 39th Convocation ceremony.

He said that 18 graduates got Distinction in Pharmacy and one graduate won Distinction in Physiotherapy faculties.

The Vice Chancellor noted that  256 graduates in the First Degree/Diploma category secured First Class, adding that 3,842 got Second Class (Upper Division), 6,178 Second Class (Lower Division), 1,299 bagged Third Class and 62 got Pass.

Professor Egbewole explained that the 39th convocation ceremonies also include 124 MBBS graduands, 64 Nursing graduands, 35 Optometry graduands, 30 Veterinary Medicine graduands
and 18 graduands with Distinction and 85 graduands with Pass in Pharmacy, one distinction and 32 Pass in Physiotherapy among others.

The Vice Chancellor lamented multiplier effect of removal of Petroleum subsidy, particularly with its implications on prices of goods and services.

He Pointed  that other challenges of the institution included astronomical increase in electricity tariff, galloping inflation and infrastructural needs, “to the evolving demands of higher education .

Professor Egbewole, said the university has braced the challenges but not without a price.
