Gov Radda Offers Automatic Employment to 11 Graduating Students

Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has approved the immediate release of eleven automatic employment letters to the best performing graduates of Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsin-ma.

The Governor announced this during the second combined convocation of the college, held at the Convocation Arena in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State.

Malam Dikko Umar Radda said the students have demonstrated both moral and academic excellence during their time at the college, which warranted their reward and urged others to borrow leaf from them.

He also announced a donation of two million naira to three staff members of the college who demonstrated dedication to both their primary and secondary responsibilities.

The recipients include one academic staff member, one non-academic staff member, and one junior staff member.

 

Dikko Radda also offered an automatic scholarship to a female student with a physical disability, adding that his administration will sponsor her education up to the degree level.

The governor assured to support the institution with the necessary security gadgets as well as to construct security watch towers within the school premises in order to provide security of lives and properties of staff and students.

He further emphasized his administration’s dedication to the education sector, noting that the state government had provided permanent employment to over 700 N-Power teachers and has undertaken the construction of classrooms in primary and secondary schools throughout the state.

Speaking earlier, the Provost of the college, Dr. Ismaila Ado Funtua, stated that the college has made considerable progress, making it one of the best teacher training institutions in the country.

According to him, in addition to training teachers at the NCE level, the college has already graduated 773 undergraduate students who were conferred with bachelor’s degrees in education by Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.

He added that the college has a staff strength of 472, comprising 236 academic staff and the remainder being non-academic staff, and of the 236 academic staff, 35 hold PhDs and 118 have acquired master’s degrees in various fields.

The Provost also enumerated some challenges facing the institution, which include low intake, staff poaching, lack of access roads and drainage, insufficient logistics support, and general insecurity.
