Gov Radda Donates $10,000 for Rebuilding of 200-Year-Old Mosque in Niger Republic

Following the collapse of a 200-year-old mosque in Damagaram, Niger Republic, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State contributed $10,000 to support its reconstruction.

The money was delivered by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gwajo-gwajo, to the Sultan of Damagaram at his palace.

In his remarks, after receiving the donation, the Sultan of Damagaram, Alhaji Umaru Sanda, expressed his appreciation to the Governor for the contribution toward the reconstruction of a modern mosque building.

He said the gesture would further cement the long-standing relationship between Katsina and Damagaram which has been flourishing for over 500 years.

Speaking, Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gwajo-gwajo, told the Sultan that Governor Radda made the donation to promote the social and spiritual development of the people.

“This mosque will contribute towards instilling Islamic moral discipline in our people, and this assist in addressing many social ills in our society.

“This gesture will also strengthen bilateral relations and goodwill between our people”, Gwajo-gwajo said.
