Niger State Government has expedite action on the execution of several road projects spread across the state towards improving the socio economic well-being of its rural and urban populace.
The Special Adviser to the Niger state Governor on Digital Media and Strategy Abdullberqy Usman Ebbo who stated this on his Facebook page stated that the projects was aimed at ameliorating the plights of the citizens and improve their livelihood.
Abdulbaqy Ebbo explained that one of the major components of the present administration of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, is the upgrading and dualization of the eighty two kilometer Minna-Kataeregi-Bida road project in Niger State.
This according to him include; its river crossings like major Bridges and Minor side and cross drainage structures as well as undertaking related technical supervision and consulting services and social intervention in some communities along the project corridor.
Abdulbaqy Ebbo however said that the road project entails the construction of pedestrian bridges, toll gates, and interchange construction at Minna and Bida towns just as the Minna- Kataeregi-Bida road project is divided in to three lots.
According to him the Projects Development Objective (PDO) is to improve inter-connectivity of the corridor of road toward enhancing social and economic activities that would fast track the optimal productivity of Niger state.
Other objectives he said, are to Improve on ridding quality, increase capacity of the road, improve linkages to Federal roads, steady movement of goods and services, improve travel time, reduce accident on our roads, generate revenue and Improve access to health facilities as well as provide available markets for agriculture produce
According to Ebbo, it is envisaged that when the project is completed there would be appreciable reduction in travel time, traffic control, and reduction in maintenance cost of vehicles for commuters plying the road.
The Special Adviser Digital Media and Strategy,hinted that before the award of Minna- Kataeregi-Bida road project commuters along the route spent average of two and half hours to move from Minna to Bida which is a distance of only eighty two kilometers which he said will be a thing of the past soon, when the the project is completed.
Abdulbaqy Ebbo maintained that the three (3) lots of Minna- Kataeregi-Bida Road Project was divided to ease the construction and supervision activities, which includes; the lot one from Kpakungu before Garatu, lot two is from Garatu to Kakapkangi ,while lot three is from Kakapkangi to Bida.
He however added that each of the lots is financed by Niger State Government, Islamic Development Bank and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development respectively, stressing that all the three contractors are on site and work is going on as planned, without hitches.
