Nigeria Customs Intercepts 283 Parcels of Hemp

The Niger Kogi Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted two hundred and eighty three parcels of Cannabis Sativa popularly referred to as Indian hemp in an operation in Kogi state.

Command Area Controller, Mr Pascal Chbuoke stated this while addressing Newsmen in Minna, Niger state, headquarters of the command.

Mr Pascal Chbuoke explained that operatives of the Area Command in Kogi state outpost on routine patrol based on intelligent gathering intercepted a Honda Accord with registration number FKJ 678 DJ with duty paid vslue of over five point four million naira on Lokoja Abuja expressway on suspicion that it was carrying a prohibited items.

According to him the driver has abandoned the vehicle during a thorough search by his officers and men and fled to the bush in fear of being arrested.

He said in the last four weeks the Niger Kogi Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service has recorded a seizure and detention of nine exotic vehicles with duty paid value of over one hundred and seventy million naira

They have handed over the two hundred and eighty three parcels of seized items to the Niger Command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA Narcotic Commandant Shehu Gwadabawa for necessary action.

In his remarks after receiving the Cannabis Sativa NDLEA Commandant Shehu Gwadabawa commended the new Area Controller for partnering with his command and gave an assurance that the synergy will cont to achieve meaningful progress.
