Nigerian Army Task Combat Operators On Substance Abuse

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has charged officers and men of the Nigerian Army to remain focus and avoid the use of drugs substance for effective combat operations.

He gave the admonition at a seminar on  warrior ethos for achieving success in combat operations.

The seminar which was organised by the Department of Transformation and Innovation was geared towards upholding the values of warrior ethos which is a set of principles by which every soldier lives on.

Represented by the Acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose , Lt. General Lagbaja reminded them of the sacrificial nature of military service.

Also speaking, the Head of the Department of Transformation and Innovation, Major General Zakari Logun Abubakar said the seminar was also aimed at highlighting the threats of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear terrorism in Nigeria.

He said the reoccurrence of incident of drugs and substance abuse among troops deployed in combat operation zone has become worrisome and called for awareness creation.

Major General Zakari added that the seminar would optimize the leadership capacity of junior and middle cadre officers, as well as improving the ability of the 8 Division personnel performance in combat operations against insecurity challenges in the North West geopolitical zone.
