Jigawa Taskforce Holds Consultations on Retrieval of Unauthorized Number Plates

The Taskforce Committee for the retrieval of unauthorized government official number plates in Jigawa State has continued its consultations with key stakeholders.

The committee, established by Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, met with the acting chairmen of Dutse, Buji, Gwaram, Birnin Kudu, Kiyawa, Miga, and Jahun Local Government Councils, as well as the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee, DC Tijjani Murtala, represented by Co-Chairman DCC Aminu Abba of the Federal Road Safety Corps, explained that the taskforce was created to identify and confiscate unauthorized official number plates used on private vehicles by civil and public officers within and outside the state.

He called for cooperation from local councils and stakeholders to ensure effective enforcement.

Local government chairmen commended Governor Namadi’s initiative and pledged their support for the committee’s efforts.

Similarly, NURTW’s representative, Comrade Ibrahim Ahmed Kwaimawa, assured the committee of the union’s full cooperation in enforcing the retrieval of unauthorized plates.

The Taskforce Committee reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out its duties with fairness and integrity while welcoming input from stakeholders to achieve its goals.
