Jigawa Distributes Relief Materials To Over Fifteen Thousand Flood Victims

Over fifteen thousand  flood victims have received relief materials across seventeen local government areas of Jigawa state.

Governor Umar Namadi disclosed this at the flagging off ceremony for the distribution of food items and cash to the victims held at Buji local government of the state.

According to him, the relief materials was aimed at reducing the hardship faced by the affected people but not to compensate their loss.

He further explained that, the state government was always concerned with the situation of the flood victims since the beginning of the disaster.

He pointed out that, the state government will continue to support the victims in collaboration with federal government and non governmental organizations.

“Today we flagg off the distribution of of 10 kg bag of rice, Maize, Guinea corn , one cartoon of Sphagetti and 20,000 naira to each of the 15,775 flood victims households”.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara said the state Emergency Management Agency has been working continuously to reach the flood victims.

He added that they have the comprehensive list of the victims, and the assessment of the damages which they had jointly taken in collaboration with National Emergency Management Agency NEMA.

Radio Nigeria reports that, thousands of the flood victims who received the relief materials commended Governor Namadi for the gesture.
