Kano Assembly Organizes Capacity Building Workshop for Committee Secretaries

The Kano State House of Assembly KNHA has organized a one-day Strategic Capacity Building Workshop for Secretaries of the 34 existing House Committees in collaboration with Green Horizon Institute.

Declaring the workshop open, the Speaker, KNHA Alhaji Jibril Ismail Falgore, described committee secretaries as the backbone of legislative operations due to their invaluable support.

He reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to training and retraining of staff to achieve the desired objectives.

“The last training for committee clerks was conducted as far back as the year 2015 on effective budget processes.That was 9 years ago, and we’re making history today by bringing back an almost forgotten initiative”

Alhaji Jibril commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his tireless support to Kano state house of assembly.

The Deputy Clerk, Alhaji Nasiru Magaji, commended the Speaker’s unwavering dedication towards capacity building of legislative staff.

He also said the Speakers hard work has a profound impact on the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the House of Assembly.

The lead presenter, Professor Muhammad Tabiu, emphasized the rationale behind the strategic capacity building workshop for committee Secretaries as timely, while urging the participants to adhere to the content of the workshop, as it will boost their capacities.

Presenting the paper titled “Functions and Powers of the State House of Assembly,” Malam Balarabe Bello explained the intricacies behind the responsibilities of committee secretaries.
