Flood Submarge 6000 Hecters of Rice Farm Lands in Kebbi

The recent flood that occurred in Kebbi state, has submarged about 6000 Hecters of rice farm lands amounting to over 600 million naira in the two local government areas of Argungu and Augie.

The State Chairman of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Alhaji Yusuf Isiaka Argungu, stated this to Radio Nigeria in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state.

He said, rice farmers are worst hit by the disaster where they complain bitterly as they collected loan to fund their farms.

The Chairman said, the association has visited the flood areas and assess the level of damage, which according to him the organisations and individuals that provided loans to the farmers also visited the scene.

Alhaji Isiaka Argungu, however appealed to the victims to take the disaster as an act from God and as well assured them that, the association will forward their complaint to the loaners so as to find succour during the repayment and also for the state government to assist.

The flood that occurred last week following a heavy down pour, has rendered many communities homeless as the victims are now taking refuge in primary schools in the two local government areas in the state.
