Jigawa state government says it has shifted the date for the distribution of insecticidal treated mosquito nets that was scheduled to commence on 9th August 2024.

The Director Public Health, Ministry of Health , Dr. Mahmood Abdulwahab stated this in an interview with Newsmen in Dutse.

According to him, shifting the date for the distribution became necessary due to some setbacks in Babura and Birnin Kudu local government areas as a result of looting the nets during the hunger protest held across the country.

Dr. Mahmood Abdulwahab further said the ministry has engaged relevant stakeholders including security agencies in order to recover the stolen nets.

He said so far, some of the nets have been returned in the two local government areas.

The Director Public health therefore called on individuals to help the government in the recovery process as well as report any suspected persons who are in possession of the nets to the relevant authorities.

Radio Nigeria reports that, Jigawa state has been chosen as the pilot state for the 2024 net distribution across the thirty six states of the federation.
