Federal Government Inaugurates Water Scheme in Niger

The Federal Government says it will continue to accord priority to the improvement of lives of Nigerians especially at the grassroot level to enhance their livelihood.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation-SGF, Mr George Akume stated this at the inauguration of water works project which has been stalled for thirty years at New Bussa headquarters of Borgu Local Government Area of Niger state.

Represented by the Minister of State for Agriculture, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi at the rehabilitated and expanded New Bussa water scheme project, Mr George Akume charged beneficiaries of the project to ensure judicious utilization to achieve maximum results.

In his remarks, Niger state Governor, Mọhammed Umar Bago represented by the Commissioner Works and Infrastructure, Suleiman Umar the Governor said provision of portable and sustainable water to its people remain the cardinal objective of the state government.

Governor Bago said Niger state Government is ready to align and collaborate with any individual or groups willing to improve the living standards of Nigerlites to move the state forward.

Managing Director National Hydroelectric Power Producing Area Development Commission-NHYPPADEC, Abubakar Sadik Yelwa promised to provide more for the growth and development of participating states as well as to ease their hardship.

Abubakar Sadik Yelwa however explained that the support and cooperation they have been receiving from Niger state Government was responsible for most of the successes they have recorded and called for more to succeed.
