A dusk to dawn curfew has been imposed in Karu and Keffi Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, following a security reason in the wake of the Nationwide protest across the country.
This is contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen by the council Chairman of Keffi, Alhaji Muhammad Baba Shehu.
He said, the impose of the dusk to dawn curfew had became necessary in the town as a result of the hijacking of the protest by miscreants.
“The 1st August, 2024 Nationwide hunger protest has taken a dimension that is out of control that even involved miscreants that are unidentified with preparedness to loot and to showcase “yan-shara” Saga of the protest.
“In view of the foregoing, it has become imperative to stage a dusk-dawn curfew from 6:00pm-6:00am with effect from today 1st August, 2024 in consultation with the security operatives in Keffi.
Also in Karu local government area, The Council Chairman, Mr. James Thomas, announced the curfew following the break of law and order as well as precautionary measure aimed at ensuring security of the council.
The statement says with the dusk-dawn curfew across the entire council it now restrict the movement of people, Okada and Keke riders, shops owners, and motorists.
