NANISS Urges Focus on Safety and Academic Goals Over Protests

The National Association of Niger State Students NANISS has asked its members to act responsibly and prioritise their safety and academic pursuit over the planned nationwide protest of ending Bad Governance in Nigeria.

National President of the Association Comrade Gambo Idris Shehu, stated this while addressing Newsmen in Minna on the planned nationwide protest which begins today.

Comrade Gambo Idris Shehu maintained that NANISS has vehemently opposed the planned nationwide protest and advised its members to stay clear of it in the interest of peace progress and development of Niger state and Nigeria.

According to him Niger state students have no reason whatsoever to participate in the protest due to what the present administration of Governor Nọhammed Umar Bago has done to them within the last one year in office.

He however said about two weeks ago Governor Mọhammed Umar Bago has approved the release of two billion naira for the payment of scholarship to its indegene students of higher learning to enable them study with relative ease.

Comrade Gambo Idris Shehu explained that the scholarship that was disbursed surpass amount witnessed in recent time which demostrate government commitment to support education and enhancing the lives of students across Niger state.

This and many other factors are among several reasons why the National Association of Niger State Students NANISS opted for dialogue and not protest in addressing this problem.
