Troops Neutralize Over 100 Bandits In Niger State

The Nigerian Army in collaboration with Vigilante have reportedly neutralized over one hundred bandits near Kundu in Wushishi local government area of Niger state.

It was reliably gathered that the criminals were on Wednesday morning crossing Kontagora road through their usual route towards Akere axis of Kundu in Wushishi and Mashegu local government areas where they usually carryout their nefarious crimes of kidnapping and cattle rustling.

It was further revealed that the military personnel and Vigilante monitoring their movement through the route and therefore took the advantage to ambushed them leading to much casualties on the part of the bandits although could not ascertain the actual number of casualties.

An eye witness from Kundu community told Journalist that they got wind of their coming with motorcycles but discovered that they were trekking in which they suspected to be the handwork of informants to the bandits for sudden change of movement.

A resident of Wushishi, Ishaku Musa Kato said they heard gun shots persistently on Wednesday morning even inside the rain for hours and we gathered it was a gun duel between the military and bandits were over one hundred of the bandits were reportedly killed and therefore commended the military and vigilantes for countering them successfully this time around.”

Niger State Commissioner for Home and Security, Retired General Abdullahi Bello Mohammed who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview, applauded the bravery of the military and vigilantes for the excellent execution.

According to him, the bandits will surely evacuate their injured and corpses hence nobody can not confirm exactly their casualty.

General Abdullahi Bello advised the security to be on alert and intensify surveillance because the criminals doesn’t accept defeat and should be prepared for them incase of reprisal attacks.

He however added that there is nọ going back in the fight against insurgency as they are ready to adopt new strategy in combating crimes and criminality for a peaceful Niger state and Nigeria.
