Daniel Bwala Visits President Bola Tinubu, Expresses Solidarity

Written by Yusuf Zubairu

Former spokesman for Atiku Abubakar, Daniel Bwala, has visited the Presidential Villa to meet with President Bola Tinubu.

Bwala stated that his visit was to commend the President for his efforts in addressing pressing issues such as hunger, transportation, and minimum wage, amidst widespread calls for protests.

He highlighted the President’s steps, including the new minimum wage law, distribution of food supplies, and local government autonomy, which he described as a “masterstroke” for enhancing grassroots governance.

Bwala emphasized the importance of patriotism and supporting the President, despite political differences.

Addressing his political affiliation, Bwala confirmed his departure from the PDP and plans to join the APC.

He likened the transition to planning a significant event, noting his previous contributions to APC during President Buhari’s tenure.

Bwala expressed commitment to President Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing a focus on national unity and progress over party politics.

Regarding the planned protests, Bwala acknowledged the constitutional right to protest but cautioned against potential violence.

He cited the situation in Kenya as a cautionary example, warning that violent protests could harm the very people they aim to support by destroying infrastructure and businesses.

Bwala also addressed accusations of politicians lacking principles, stating that freedom of association allows for party changes based on conviction. He referenced Donald Trump’s recent vice-presidential pick as an example of political fluidity based on shared goals.

Responding to Atiku Abubakar’s support for the protests, he suggested that opposition figures naturally support actions that challenge the ruling party. However,

he reiterated his concerns about potential violence and cited constitutional provisions that allow for limiting rights in the interest of public safety and national security.

Bwala concluded by urging caution and dialogue, emphasizing the need for peaceful resolution and continued efforts by the government to address the nation’s challenges.
