Nigeria Advances Value Chain Localization in Renewable Energy with Key International Partnerships

Nigeria’s ambitious efforts to localize value chains in renewable energy technology manufacturing has reached a significant milestone this weekend.

After traveling from Accra to Beijing, Nigeria’s Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, Ajuri Ngelale, attended a dinner hosted by Mr. Yin Zhisong, Chairman of Sinoma International Engineering Company, in the Chinese capital.

Sinoma, a prominent subsidiary of the CNBM Group—which oversees $85 billion in assets, employs 200,000 people, holds 11,000 patents, and runs 26 R&D institutes—showed significant interest in setting up its renewable energy technology manufacturing industry in Nigeria’s Evergreen City.

This move is seen as a substantial endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s green industrial vision.

During the session, discussions centered on how Sinoma’s formidable manufacturing capabilities could align with Nigeria’s goals for sustainable industrial development and renewable energy.

Later in the evening, Ngelale participated in a crucial virtual discussion with a combined technical team from the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. State Department.

The meeting, which was held at Beijing, focused on advancing Nigeria’s development of a circular economy.

Key topics included a new programmatic initiative aimed at co-creating industrial clusters and developing consumer credit-tied financing packages.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to unlock Nigeria’s envisioned $1 trillion GDP, fostering inclusive economic growth and creating opportunities for all Nigerians.

Ngelale’s engagements in Beijing mark a significant step forward in Nigeria’s journey towards renewable energy technology localization and economic transformation, highlighting the international cooperation essential to achieving these ambitious goals.
