Written by Yusuf Zubairu

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) have addressed the press following a routine security briefing with the President.

The IGP Kayode Egbetokun reported a decline in crime rates across the country, emphasizing that this positive trend is backed by reliable records.

He assured the public of continued efforts to maintain and further this decline, highlighting the importance of synergy among security agencies.

Similarly, the Chief of Defence Staff CDS, Christopher Musa, addressed the issue of oil theft, noting that Nigeria aims to produce 2.1 million barrels per day and is taking the necessary steps to reach this target.

He reassured communities affected by oil theft that the government was aware of their concerns and committed to addressing their grievances to ensure uninterrupted production.

Musa also issued a stern warning to criminals involved in stealing infrastructure and crude oil, stating that their days are numbered.

He called for collective efforts from all stakeholders, including states and communities, to combat these crimes and achieve full production, reiterating that no single entity can tackle this issue alone.
