Written by fadila yunusa

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched a 4-day digital skills training program for podcast production for its staff.

Over 15 officers are participating in the training at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja, aimed at enhancing their capacity to produce high-quality podcasts for the organization’s anti-corruption campaign.

The training program covers various skills, including starting a podcast, speaking skills, digital skills, online marketing skills, organization skills, teamwork, and self-confidence. Participants will also learn digital and mobile journalism skills to produce ethical podcasts at the highest standards.

According to the Acting Director of Public Enlightenment and Education Department, also Spokes Person of the ICPC, Mr. Demola Bakari FSY,  the ICPC embarked on this project due to the realization that a large segment of the population is not being effectively carried along in the anti-corruption campaign.

He emphasized the importance of communicating with the youth in a language they understand, to bring about behavior change and address societal issues.

“The youth are critical to the success of the crusade, and we need to communicate with them in a language they understand. We want to empower them to talk to themselves, and bring about change among their peers,” Mr. Bakari said.

He added that the podcast program will be based on the commission’s mandate, focusing on change and behavior change in society, particularly among the new generation. “We are not restricting them; we want them to express themselves freely, but within bounds. We are confident that podcasting will achieve our objectives and blow minds,”

The training program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to kickstart a successful online podcast program for the organization, which will be accepted locally and internationally.

Mr. Bakari expressed satisfaction with the training, noting that the participants’ capacity is “out of this world.” The trainer and participants have also expressed satisfaction with the training, and the participants have thanked the commission for the opportunity.

This initiative demonstrates the ICPC’s commitment to embracing digital technologies and innovative communication strategies to enhance its anti-corruption campaign.
