Kano Assembly Establishes Three Second Class Emirate Councils

The Kano state House of Assembly has passed the Kano state emirate council establishment bill 2024.

This was sequel to the 3rd reading and consideration in the committee of the whole house during plenary presided over by the Speaker Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore in Kano.

Earlier the bill scaled second and 3rd reading in a motion moved by the deputy speaker Alhaji Bello Muhammad Butu Butu.

Speaking shortly after the passage of the bill, the deputy speaker explained that there is an existing Kano emirate council with a first-class emir who will serve as the Chairman while the second-class Emirate Councils consist of Rano,Gaya and Karaye.

“The 2nd class emirates created under sun section 1 shall only exercise jurisdiction in respect of the area of the local government areas specified and listed under their respective names”

Radio Nigeria reports that the local governments under the second-class Emirate Councils include Rano, Kibiya, Bunkure, Gaya, Albasu, Ajingi, Karaye and Rogo.
