The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) has announced that local government elections across the state will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
The Commission’s Chairperson, Hajiya Hajara Mohammed, made the announcement during a meeting with stakeholders on Tuesday at the commission’s office in Kaduna.
Hajiya Mohammed pointed out that the current elected council members, who were sworn into office on November 1, 2021, will complete their three-year tenure on October 31, 2024, necessitating the need for fresh elections.

She emphasized that it is KADSIECOM’s responsibility to organize, conduct, and supervise elections for local government elective positions in the state.
Hajiya Hajara also mentioned that the 2024 election guidelines and timetable have been released and assured political parties and stakeholders of the commission’s readiness to conduct the elections on the scheduled date.
The Chairperson affirmed the commission’s commitment to ensuring a smooth succession in the local government councils in accordance with the law.
