The Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has visited the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, at his Iga Idugaran palace, where she reaffirmed her dedication to the progress of Nigeria and discussed the appeal for special status for Lagos State.

Accompanied by the wives of several South West governors, National Assembly members, ministers, and service chiefs, Senator Tinubu expressed gratitude for the Oba’s continuous support and blessings.

“I assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will do well for this country. He loves Nigeria, he loves Nigerians and will do the best for them,” she stated, emphasizing her husband’s dedication to the nation’s development.

During the visit, Senator Tinubu acknowledged the Oba’s appeal for special status for Lagos State, given its historical significance as the former Federal Capital of Nigeria.

She assured him that the request would receive attention from the National Assembly through Lagos representatives.

The Oba of Lagos, in his remarks, urged Nigerians to be patient with the current administration and to pray for the nation’s success.

“All that I am saying and appealing is that we should pray for Nigeria and the president. We should be patient. Everything good needs prayers,” he said.

Oba Akiolu also addressed the youth, encouraging them to be diligent and self-reliant.

He acknowledged the hard work of many young Nigerians but cautioned against a dependency mindset.

“Though some youth are incurably lazy and are always waiting to be spoon-fed, teach them not to always wait for fish but learn how to fish themselves,” he advised.

The visit concluded with traditional blessings from the Oba of Lagos, reinforcing the strong relationship between the Tinubu administration and the Lagos monarchy.
