Last batch of Borno pilgrims arrives in Maiduguri

The last batch of 112 pilgrims from Borno State has successfully been airlifted from King Muhammad  ibn Abdulaziz International airport Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to Muhammadu Buhari International airport, Maiduguri.

This marks the end of the airlift of 1,815 Borno pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj exercise.

The aircraft landed at the Muhammadu Buhari International airport at exactly 12:00am Saturday morning with the Amirul Hajj and members of his committee as well as officials of the Board.

Speaking to Radio Nigeria, the State Amirul Hajj, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for recording a successful Hajj operations.

According to him, the success of this year’s pilgrimage is not unconnected to the enormous support provided by Governor Babagana Zulum, members of his team, management and staff of pilgrims’ board and the pilgrims themselves.

“The success of the 2024 Hajj can be attributed to a combination of many factors; including the commitment of members of the Amirul Hajj committee, management and staff of pilgrims welfare board, the pilgrims themselves and then the support of the state government” Kaka Shehu said.

The leader of the 2024 Hajj team also commended the pilgrims for exhibiting good behaviour and orderly conduct throughout the exercise.

“The pilgrims did very well, they conducted themselves in very well, they prayed for the peaceful coexistence of the state and Nigeria at large, adhered strictly to regulations of Saudi authorities and that of Nigerian government ” He added.

Senator Kaka Shehu also lauded the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), for ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated return process.

Acting Executive Secretary Borno State pilgrims welfare Board, Alhaji Mohammed Dawule said the last batch comprised pilgrims from Maiduguri Metropolitan, Jere, Kukawa and Biu.

He commended all the stakeholders for their support and cooperation in ensuring success of the exercise.

Two of the pilgrims, Alhaji Baba Kura Mele and Hajiya Aisha Mustapha, thanked Almighty Allah for a hitch-free pilgrimage and successfully airlifted back home after performing the Hajj rites.
