The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has expressed its deepest sympathy over the tragic collapse of a school building in Jos, Plateau State, on Friday, which resulted in fatalities and multiple casualties.
In a statement signed by its Director General, Engr (Dr) Abubakar Gambo Umar, the foundation commiserated with the government and people of Plateau State over the “tragic and unfortunate incident”.
The foundation praised the prompt response of emergency services but urged the government to prioritize the treatment of the injured and continue search and rescue operations for trapped victims.
It also called for stricter adherence to safety standards in building construction to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
The foundation offered its thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss.
“This tragedy has sparked widespread concern and outrage, with many calling for greater accountability and action to prevent such incidents in the future”.
