Vice President Kashim Shettima highlighted the critical role of enhanced data collection, analysis, and technology deployment in informing government decisions, investments, and development strategies.

Speaking at the 2024 World Population Day event at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, Shettima emphasized the necessity of robust data systems, upgraded human resources, and partnerships to produce and utilize inclusive data.

He believes this approach is essential for ensuring a resilient and equitable future for all Nigerians.

The theme for this year’s celebration, “The Power of Data,” underscores the importance of inclusive data in shaping a better future.

Vice President, Shettima noted that recognizing the power of data and its inclusive potential is highly instructive.

Shettima remarked, “Data is life. It provides evidence, reflects our performance, and offers a realistic picture of situations, trends, and patterns. It informs us about demographics, including age and sex structures and locations. Data tells the true story of our experiences and helps us understand today and the future through scientific projections and analysis.”

Despite the last census occurring 18 years ago, Shettima emphasized that Nigeria has always valued the importance of data, urging a renewed commitment to improving data collection, analysis, and the use of modern technology.
