In a bid to enhance surveillance and general security operations across the country, federal and states security administrators have converged on Bauchi State Capital to deliberate and proffer solutions to various forms of security situations across the country.
The meeting organized by the Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation in collaboration with Bauchi State Government was also aimed at providing a better platform for maping a common internal security measures inline with the current security situation.
Declaring the meeting open, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State who identified kidnapping, cattle wrestling, banditry and youth festiveness as some of the areas of security concerned expressed hope that solutions would be proffered to the challenges identified.
Governor Bala Mohammed who was represented by the commissioner Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu said his administration has introduced Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency to compliment efforts of conventional security agencies in the fight against crime and criminality across the state.
In his address, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary Special Services in his office Tukur Yahaya expressed concern on the dangers of food insecurity which became a serious national issue.
According to him with a report recently released by the World Food Programme which says Nigeria would face acute hunger between June and August this year, a collective efforts should be made to provide adequate security for farmers towards achieving food security.
The meeting has in attendance, commissioners of internal security from across the country, permanent secretaries from the ministries, heads of security agencies, officials from the States Emergency Management Agencies SEMA among others.
