Cultural Heritage, Tool for Unity, Social Cohesion-Gov Idris

The Governor Nasir Idris led administration, says it will continue to promote culture and tradition to strengthen the unity of the people of Kebbi State.

The Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, stated this at the First Unity Mini Cultural Festival, organised by the Ministry of Information and Culture held at Halliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state.

The Commissioner who said, Governor Nasiru Idris led administration has placed high premium on developing culture for social cohesion, unity and economic growth, demonstrated his support to the Ministry to stage the first mini cultural festival of unity in the state by assembling people of diverse culture to showcase their cultural heritage.

He said, culture has colossal potency for unity and social cohesion among diverse groups in the society, government would incorporate promotion of culture among its policies.

The Commissioner called on the participants to use the festival as tool for peace and unity in the society also in the state.

The Secretary to the Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala, was the Special Guest at the event.

Groups that showcased their cultural heritage includes Fulani, Zabarmawa, Dakarkari, Kambari, Tiv, Igbo and Yoruba among others.
