President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerian public servants to be accountable to the citizens, emphasizing that public institutions are not personal enterprises.
Speaking at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized his administration’s dedication to recognizing merit and fostering a motivational atmosphere for public servants.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the president acknowledged that despite efforts to prevent irregularities, some officials continue to exploit existing loopholes.
He underscored the importance of recognizing and rewarding excellence in public service to inspire positive change and uphold national values.
The event, supported by the private sector and the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, honoured 44 individuals for their exceptional contributions to public service.
