NCS Intercepts PMS Worth Over N55m In Kebbi

The operation whirlwind of the Nigeria Customs Service, has seized 79,700 litres of petroleum motor spirit with duty paid value of over N55.7 million from suspected smugglers in Kebbi State.

Briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the National Coordinator of the operation for Zone B, Comptroller Hussain Kehinde Ejibunu, explained that, 661kegs containing 79,500 litres and 15 drums containing 200 litres of pms were intercepted from smugglers at Maje, Ambursa and Bagudo waterside areas of the state.

He said, his men were able to intercept the kegs of pms from smugglers based on intelligence reports the operation gathered from the sister security agencies, NMDPRA and NNPC on the activities of the smugglers across Kebbi and Sokoto axis.

Comptroller Hussaini Ejibunu, said on daily bases, his men move to every locations in the country to ensure compliance with the regulatory authority’s rules on trucking, discharging and dispensing of pms products.

The Comptroller stated that, the operation has distruputed and dismantled the network of cartels of premium Motor Spirit across the national borders.

In a related development, Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Customs Service’s Comptroller, Iheanacho Ernest Ojike, said his men has seized 11, 650 litres of pms, 40 cartoons of foreign spaghetti, 50 bales of secondhand clothngs 2 bbs, 28 cartoons of Diclofenac tablets and 10 jerrycans of vegetable oils with duty paid value of over 14,7million naira.

Comptroller Ojike said, the seized pms valued at N8,178,183 would be auctioned to the public.
