NDLEA Proposes Drug Test Before Marriage To Combat Abuse

Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Command has proposed a groundbreaking initiative to combat drug abuse among married couples.

Commandant Abubakar Idris disclosed this during an interview with Journalist in Kano.

 

He said the agency is seeking the support of Kano State lawmakers to enact a law requiring drug tests before marriage.

Abubakar Idris disclosed noted that the proposal is a response to the high rate of marriage breakdowns in the state, often linked to drug abuse.

He maitained that Investigations have shown that one spouse often introduces the other to drugs after marriage, hindering efforts to combat drug abuse.

The NDLEA Commander said the proposed law aims to address frequent marriage breakdowns in Kano and reduce drug abuse among married couples.

Ahmad appealed to youths, women, and the general public to shun drug abuse and work together to move the state and nation forward.

He added that innovative approach seeks to tackle drug abuse at its roots, promoting a healthier and more sustainable society.
