Kano Emirship Tussle: Court Adjourns Hearing To July 4

Written by Bunmi Abdulraheem

Kano State High Court has adjourned the hearing of an application in the ongoing Kano Emirship tussle case until July 4.

The applicants, including the Attorney-General of Kano State and the Kano State House of Assembly, are seeking to restrain the dethroned emirs of Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye from parading themselves as traditional rulers.

The respondents, including Aminu Ado-Bayero and four other dethroned emirs, have filed processes in response to the application.

The applicants’ counsel told the court that they received five processes from the first respondent on July 1 at 7:00 pm, and have filed their responses.

They requested a 30-minute break to serve the respondent.

Counsel to Bayero opposed the 30-minute standdown and sought adjournment to enable him time to respond to the applications.

The presiding judge, Justice Amina Adamu, adjourned the case to allow for the respondents to respond to the applications.
