Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education in Kano is revolutionizing the education sector locally and beyond.

According to Vice Chancellor Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, the university is aiming to address the shortage of qualified teachers in senior secondary schools.

In an interview, Professor Bunkure highlighted the university’s achievements in producing well-qualified educators, boasting over 116 lecturers holding Ph.D. degrees and nearly 500 with Master’s degrees.

“We are currently witnessing significant strides in our academic staff, who actively participate in workshops and conferences both domestically and internationally,” he emphasized.

The university remains committed to continuous staff development, encouraging academic and non-academic staff to update their skills and knowledge continuously.

According to him, the institution has established a center for final-year students to acquire practical skills, ensuring they are self-reliant upon graduation.

He explained that a memorandum of understanding with an Egyptian university has been signed to foster cultural exchange and academic collaboration.

Professor Bunkure praised the Kano State Government for allocating 30% of the 2024 budget to education, which he believes will significantly enhance sector development.

With robust government support and TETFUND interventions, Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education is poised to emerge as a leading center of academic excellence in the region.
