Jigawa State Property Agents and Landlord Association of Nigeria PALAN has rejected the alleged move by the state government to takeover their business of selling and renting houses and other landed properties in the state.

The spokesperson person of the Association, Alhaji Lawan Hassan stated this while speaking to newsmen in Dutse, the state capital.

He explained that the association was invited to a meeting with the state commissioner of land and regional planning, where they were informed about a plan to ban the members of the association from issuing witness receipts in any transactions involving the sale or rental of houses, plots, and other landed properties.

” However we were told that, Government will be the sole responsible of issuing such receipt, this is technically a step towards eliminating us from the business, and we will resist it”

“Base on the available information we have, the state Governor Malam Umar Namadi is not aware of the said plan, and we believe he will never be party to any move to deny people their legal means of livelihood”.

Alhaji Lawan Hassan added that, the association assured their commitment to the state and local governments as well as give all necessary support in any move to ensure sanity in their jobs as well as give useful information that will help in strengthening the peace and security in the state.
