NG- CARES Programme: KWSG Distributes Farm Inputs , Others To 600,000 Beneficiaries

No fewer than six hundred thousand farmers and vulnerables across different categories in the sixteen local government areas of Kwara State are to benefit from the fourth phase of agricultural and infrastructural assets distribution under the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery Stimulus, NG-CARES, programme.

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq made the disclosure while launching the distribution of high-value assets to the beneficiaries in the state.

Represented by the Deputy governor Mr Kayode Alabi , the governor said items to be distributed included fishing and passenger boats, grinding machines, hand tillers, fertilizers, cassava stems and yams seeds.

AbdulRazaq said the giant steps towards supporting farmers and vulnerable agro-entrepreneurs is to boost food security.

The governor also donated various categories of hospital equipment to support eleven vulnerable communities in healthcare delivery.

He explained that no less than two million citizens across the State have benefitted from the various programmes and interventions under the NG-CARES, including FADAMA, Social Cash Transfer, labour intensive public workforce and social development agency.

AbdulRazaq urged the beneficiaries of the high-valued assets and equipment to consider the assets as their own and optimize the benefits.

In a remark ,the state Commissioner for Finance and Chairman, State Steering Committee for NG-CARES programme, Dr Hauwa Nuru, said the intervention is a beacon of hope that was designed and supported by the World Bank to cushion the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.

She noted that the intervention complements efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in making life bearable for the citizens.

Some of the beneficiaries commended the state government for the kind gesture.
