The Kano State government is taking a significant step towards combating gender-based violence and child rights abuse by establishing a Special Court.

The Chief  Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Aboki announced this initiative during the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) pre-convention meeting in Kano.

The proposed Special Court aims to facilitate the swift dispensation of justice and tackle emerging challenges such as gender violence, rape, and child abuse.

Justice Aboki emphasized the need for a single court to address these issues, and the government has pledged to give the request due attention.

In collaboration with UNICEF, Kano State is working to provide quality education for girls and combat gender-based violence and child abuse.

The Vice President of FIDA, Amina Suzana Abaji, praised the efforts of women in the association, noting that the gathering will pave the way for the development of justice and the protection of women and children’s rights.

This move is a crucial step towards ensuring access to justice for indigent women and children in Nigeria, and the state’s commitment to tackling these pressing issues is a beacon of hope for the vulnerable.
