During his second-term swearing-in speech, President Cyril Ramaphosa emphasized the need for all South Africans, regardless of their diverse backgrounds and affiliations, to come together and form a social compact.

He stressed that achieving the collective aspirations of individuals, families, and communities is essential for building a better South Africa.

Ramaphosa highlighted the significance of displaying courage and boldness in confronting the challenges that lie ahead while rejecting division and cynicism that could impede progress.

The President underscored the resilience and determination of the South African people, stating that those who seek to sow discord or undermine democratic institutions will not succeed.

He emphasized the enduring strength of democracy, which is deeply rooted in the hearts of the nation’s people.

Ramaphosa called for focused efforts to address urgent issues such as unemployment, poverty, gender inequality, and crime.

He pledged an unwavering commitment to ensuring that basic services reach every corner of the country, and advocated for the empowerment and protection of women and youth.

Ambassador Ben Okoye, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, explained that President Tinubu’s presence at Ramaphosa’s inauguration underscores the importance of the relationship between Nigeria and South Africa.
