KDSG Reaffirms Dedication to Women’s Development, Inclusion in Decision-Making

Kaduna State government has reaffirmed its determination to ensure women’s development across the state and their full participation in decision-making.

The State Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu stated this while inaugurating the NIPPS and DRPC committee members drawn from relevant stakeholders for the National Women Economic Empowerment WEE policy in Kaduna.

Hajiya Rabi Salisu explained that the Women Economic Empowerment policy aims to promote gender equality by empowering women economically, socially, and politically.

This includes providing access to finance, education, entrepreneurship, job creation, social protection, addressing GBV, and ensuring representation in leadership positions, among other goals.

According to her, the members are carefully selected to ensure domestication of WEE policy in Kaduna state.

Hajiya Rabi Salisu pointed out that, the members of the committee were from Organisations, Religious and MBAs, urged them to deliver within the time frame of the assignment.

it is against this backdrop that the Ministry is domesticating the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) policy which has been adopted and developed nationally

The Commissioner commended the unrelenting effort of partners particularly Development Research Centre for technical support to make the programme a huge success.

 

 

In a goodwill message, a representative of the Director of FMWA, Peter Nnabuike, disclosed that Kaduna State is the first to benefit from the support provided by dRPC and NIPPs to domesticate the WEE policy in Nigeria.

He described the WEE policy as necessary to bridge the gender gap in financial inclusion and to provide job opportunities for women.

 

Earlier, the Director Partnership and Communication, dRPC, Hassan A. Karofi said the key focus was to support women through the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development .
