Nationwide Strike: Labour Shuts down Federal, State Secretariats In Zamfara

In Zamfara state, labour leaders enforced compliance of Nationwide strike over National minimum wage and other demands and directed by the National leadership of the NLC and TUC.

NLC chairperson and TUC Chairman, Comrade Sani Halliru and Sa’idu Mudi respectively have led other labour leaders in the state to Federal and state secretariat as well as other agencies and Banks to ensure total compliance.

Radio Nigeria in Gusau obersved that all places of work were under lock and key, and other places operating sskeletal services were forced to vacate their offices.

At a Bank in Gusau there was mild tension when the Bank Manager directed securities not to allow NLC/TUC leaders to enter the Bank premises which prompted the striking leaders to chain the bank gates, signing solidarity songs and chanting unpleasant words against the Manager who later pleaded with the leaders .

Schools were shutdown as pupils and students were seen returning to their hhomes hile some Hospitals were seen operating on skeletal ervices.

In a VoxPop interview with some citizens in Gusau, Nasiru Yahaya, Usman Sanusi and Hajia Fadima Ahmad Expressed their solidarity to labour unions but called on them to consider the plight of the common man while others urged them to give more emphasis on National interest.

However, Nura Sani a motorcyclist and Sammani Hassan a Student condemned the strike action, saying poor people are at the receiving end as they only suffer and crippled by the strike.
