Police Arrests Suspects, Rescues 26 Children In Sokoto

Police in Sokoto state, have arrested one Saifullahi Hassan in connection with the murder of a middle-aged woman, Bilkisu Garba of Gidan Dare who was found dead with a slitted throat in a hotel room in the state.

Parading the suspect, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP. Aliyu Hayatu Kaigama said the suspect was arrested at Huntua in Katsina state following a tip-off by a concerned person in the state.

The  Police Command also paraded 10 suspects for criminal conspiracy and abduction, including a 45-year-old father who allegedly sold his six children and 22 others.

Bala Abubakar, a resident of Tudun Wada Area in Sokoto metropolis, allegedly sold the children for amounts ranging from N150,000 to N250,000 to one Kulu dogon yaro who was arrested in Abuja.

The command also confirmed rescuing 26 children who were abducted in the state and sold elsewhere.

The commissioner explained that the children were rescued from three different states across the country.

The Commissioner of Police said some of the suspects had confessed to receiving the children from one Mrs Kulu Dogon Yaro who was in the business of buying them from Abubakar before the arrests.

The Police Command had also rescued one barrister Rukayya Mustapha and one Malam Abdulsalam who were kidnapped in their residence.
